AYS hosts Hip Hip Hop for Health Fairs in the Kansas City, Kansas middle and high schools to provide much-needed health information and health screenings to Wyandotte County youth.  Many of these young people do not receive regular medical care and suffer from serious medical conditions like obesity.  These children benefit from the information and services that are made available to them through our fairs. 

 

As a volunteer, you can help make these fairs possible! Health Fair Assistants will assist agency staff by collecting evaluation forms and screening forms from students.  Volunteers consult with students to ensure they complete the health screenings.  Volunteers may also assist AYS staff nurses by conducting vital health screenings.

 

Health fairs take place on every other Friday of the school year during an entire school day from approximately 7:30 a.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m. Each fair takes place at a different Wyandotte County school.  Please contact us for more information. Volunteers should be 18+. Volunteers should work well with youth and should support our mission of educating youth about health issues. Volunteers are encouraged to volunteer for multiple fairs and to volunteer as a group of up to 7 if desired. While each fair is 8 hours per day, it is possible to volunteer during only a portion of the fair.
